Install in four steps
From Plugins to first preflight.
Use the public marketplace path. Developer Mode and a manually entered MCP URL are now advanced fallbacks, not the normal setup.

Open the public listing
Open Arkon Vault in ChatGPT’s Plugins directory. Confirm the Arkon name, icon, “Keep AI work continuous” description, and publisher before continuing.

Select Install plugin
Sign in to ChatGPT if asked, then choose Install plugin. A managed workspace may require its owner or administrator to allow plugins.

Authorize your Vault workspace
Sign in to Arkon Vault, select the intended workspace, review the requested continuity access, and approve it. Never paste a Vault token into chat.

Run the first preflight
Start a new chat, invoke @Arkon Vault, and ask it to preflight the project before ChatGPT changes any work.
First successful run
Ask for continuity, not a re-brief.
Use only project details you intend to supply to the tool. Vault returns the authorized continuity evidence available to the selected workspace.

The privacy boundary
ChatGPT gets the tool. You keep control.
Deliberate tool use
ChatGPT may supply relevant content when you invoke Arkon Vault. The resulting project, decision, checkpoint, and handoff records are stored in your tenant-isolated Vault.
Separate install, separate approval
Arkon Sync can read supported local AI session files and send limited session-derived project records to Arkon Vault’s servers. It does not start because the ChatGPT plugin was installed.
View, export, disconnect, delete
Use Vault Account and Connections to review authorized access, export your data, disconnect the plugin, or submit a verified deletion request.
If something does not look right
Fix the connection without exposing a secret.
The plugin is installed, but my projects are missing.
Confirm you signed in with the same Arkon Vault account and selected the intended workspace. Open Vault in another tab and verify the project exists there before reconnecting.
Do I need Arkon Sync for ChatGPT?
No. The public ChatGPT plugin can use Vault by itself. Arkon Sync is optional Windows software for supported local session-derived project records and cross-PC continuity.
Why do I not see Install plugin?
Plugin availability can depend on your ChatGPT plan, sign-in state, workspace role, and administrator policy. Sign in first, then ask the workspace owner to review plugin permissions if the action remains unavailable.
Should I paste a PAT or setup script into ChatGPT?
No. The public plugin uses the Vault authorization flow. PAT and custom MCP setup are advanced fallbacks for clients that cannot install the public plugin; never paste a secret into chat or a support ticket.
